S106 bid
Nature walks around Castlefields.Castlefields Residents' Association is working with other Associations and local business to propose that an existing local area should be linked up and managed to improve the overall amenity, increase biodiversity and protect and enhance the existing habitat for the future. The area stretches from the M6 and up Castle Hill, around the Castle and down the 2 footpaths on either side of the golf course. It would join up into the green areas down to Martin Drive and include the Balancing Pond and adjacent areas, so linking up to Millennium Way. It would provide almost unbroken traffic-free access for humans and wildlife, be protected from housing and other building development. As such, it would add socialvalue to a large area on the western side of Stafford, and have huge potential green tourism (https://www.green-tourism.com/destinations/)Our area offers some interesting nature walks. Explore the footpath from Martin Drive to the Castle and see how many species of bird and bumblebee you can notice.Visit the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust for more information.Photos by kind permission of C.M, Castlefields Resident
